Kiwanis Methow Park hosting a community celebration Thursday
There’s going to be an end-of-cherry season community party at Kiwanis Methow Park on Thursday from 5-8 p.m., thanks to the efforts of a group of neighbors called the parque padrinos.
Teresa Bendito, a Wenatchee Valley College student who is doing outreach work for The Trust for Public Land in the community effort to redevelop the park, is heading up the celebration. The parque padrinos, or godparents of the park, have started daily community events at the park focusing on education and culture, with a heavy emphasis on education and culture.
There is a strong sense of community in the South Wenatchee neighborhoods and the celebration is a great opportunity to connect with people in the community. I’m looking forward to it.
