Small Business Saturday was a hit downtown
nda Haglund of the Wenatchee Downtown Association tells me that Small Business Saturday was a big success this year.
Tumbleweed Bead Co. owner Jessica Russell told Haglund that people were lined up at the door when they opened at 10 a.m. for the day that celebrates small local businesses.
After the frenzy that happens with Black Friday, she said, it was impressive to see the throngs of people out experiencing small businesses on Saturday. While some popular local small businesses like Mills Bros., the Kitchen Sync and Academic Toolbox shut down this year, other entrepreneurs are stepping forward, such as Norwood Wine Bar and Mulberry Manor Boutique.
We are indeed fortunate to have a vibrant local downtown scene populated by lots of small businesses. As Haglund points out, there is something special about the experience of buying from people who own and operate local businesses.
It’s gratifying to see the community support that continues in the Wenatchee Valley for small local businesses.
