Looking for a copy of 1966 Lincoln Elementary book, ‘Sagebrush to Orchards’
Massage therapist Becky Pottorff stopped by my office the other day to see if I knew where she might find a copy of a book published by fourth and fifth-grade students at Lincoln Elementary in 1966.
Cliff Quinn, who was in a long-time committed relationship with Pottorff, was one of the students in the class. Quinn passed away on May 9. Pottorff said Quinn enjoyed saying that he was a published author.
I reached out to the super historian in The Wenatchee World office, Linda Barta, and she sent me a copy of the news item we published a few years ago.
Margaret Weed taught the combined class at Lincoln that year and led the project to create the book Sagebrush to Orchards with the help of local historians Bruce Mitchell, Leonard Ekman and John Brown, according to the news item. The class held an author’s party on Nov. 4, 1966 to celebrate the book’s completion.
Pottorff would dearly love to have a copy of Sagebrush to Orchards as a way to honor Quinn’s memory. If anyone in the community has a copy of the book they would be willing to part with, please let her know at [email protected].
It would sure be nice to help her out.
